St. Charles, IL – The Nutrition & Foodservice Education Foundation (NFEF), the philanthropic arm of the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP), has announced the recipient of the 2025 Foodservice Department of the Year Award.

The Village at Rockville – A National Lutheran Community in Rockville, Maryland, has earned the 2025 Foodservice Department of the Year Award for its innovative and holistic approach to dining services in a Continuing Care Retirement Community. The department integrates wellness, nutrition, and social engagement through strategic partnerships with nursing, connected living, and life enrichment departments, offering resident-driven menus, special events, and personalized dining experiences. They prioritize consistent quality, staff development, and operational excellence with daily team huddles, proactive dietary planning, and strong communication. Their focus on inclusivity, featuring plant-forward, gluten-free, and heart-healthy options, ensures all dietary needs are met. The successful reopening of dining venues post-COVID, fiscal responsibility, and continuous compliance readiness have positioned dining services as a cornerstone of resident well-being and a key driver of organizational success.
