Another calendar year is coming to a close. Reflecting on the last few months, we have experienced much change, growth, and learning in our volunteer lives. Chapter leaders have worked hard and adapted to the organization’s changes with grace and professionalism. Our members have also been exposed to some of these changes and relied on chapter leaders for answers and guidance. With all the hard work and determination, chapter leaders deserve to celebrate. We hope you’ll take some time to reflect on the progress you have made and celebrate with your members during the holiday season.
Year in Review – Don’t shy away from sharing your chapter’s success. Share your changes and progress that have taken place throughout the year with members, vendors and industry partners. Perhaps you increased engagement or your membership numbers. Maybe you simplified your registration process or recognized members’ years of service. Whatever it is, it should be acknowledged and celebrated. You may also consider sharing your successes with your supervisor or administrator, demonstrating the many ways you have contributed to the achievements of the chapter and supported the industry.
(Virtual) Holiday Celebrations – Take some time for fun this holiday season. We know our CDM, CFPPs and volunteer leaders are working hard to make the holidays special for residents and customers. So, it’s important to take time to celebrate with your peers and colleagues and do something special for yourselves. Consider a virtual holiday party with members that can include a virtual secret Santa (may require some pre-planning), holiday trivia and games, or an opportunity for members to catch up and discuss holiday plans.
Recognition & Appreciation – The holiday season is also a time for giving and gratitude. Show your appreciation to your staff, members, and residents with various activities for the 12 days of Christmas/Holidays, host a potluck or hot chocolate bar, or write thank you letters or present superlative/’most likely to’ holiday-themed awards.
A big thank you to all of you, our volunteers and chapter leaders! We are grateful for all you do for our organization and our members. The world is a better place because of each of our volunteers. Happy Holidays!
