St. Charles, IL - The Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP) has contracted with Dynamic Benchmarking to build and maintain a skilled nursing facility benchmarking program. This program was developed to provide a resource offering financial and operational data in skilled nursing facilities to ANFP members.

"Part of our mission is to use the Certified Dietary Manager and Certified Food Protection Professional designation to position our members as experts in food service management and food safety for skilled nursing facilities," says ANFP President and CEO, Joyce Gilbert, PhD, RD, LDN. "An ongoing, quality benchmarking study supports this mission by providing customizable, on-demand reporting that delivers actionable business knowledge to our members at the moment of need."

The project began with the development of an advisory group in October 2016. This group conducted a study targeting ANFP members in skilled nursing facilities. With this information, ANFP and Dynamic Benchmarking crafted and tested questions for the launch of the program. In addition to data from the study, relevant data was included from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid on the most common citations for food operations.

The program was opened in March 2017 for data collection. Sponsored by Gordon Food Service, it specifically covers facility demographics, personnel information, key financial statistics, foodservice operations, nutrition information, and food safety and sanitation practices. Survey answers for each facility are kept strictly confidential and are accessible only to the person entering the survey data and additional users from the facility. Users can run reports and compare their own data to all participants within the program.

Now in its second year, the benchmarking program has more than 850 registered participants and continues to expand. ANFP and Dynamic Benchmarking will conduct a benchmarking survey each year to report trends and changes over consecutive years.
