Ellon Seawell Certification Scholarship

OBJECTIVE:The NCANFP will award annual scholarships to non-certified, North Carolina Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals members who wish to sit for the National Certification exam. The recipients must provide proof of eligibility to sit for the National Certification exam. This includes proof of successful completion of a ANFP approved course or program: either on-site or correspondence.

PROCEDURES: Selection of award recipients shall be completed by the Scholarship / Education Committee. The recommendations put forth from that committee will be reviewed and approved by a majority vote of the NCANFP Board of Directors, in accordance with the policies approved for the administration of scholarships.

The national certification exam is offered twice per year in April and October. The Scholarship Committee should receive all applications by April 30 to ensure proper processing time for the June Board of Directors meeting. If a recipient takes the exam in April, the NCANFP will reimburse the exam fee. If the recipient takes the exam in October, the NCANFP will issue a check directly to the recipient.

The scholarship award amount will be the current fee for the credentialing exam for an associate member as established by the National ANFP Office. If the recipient is not an associate member, they are responsible for the additional exam fee.

Each member is only eligible for the Ellon Seawell Certification Scholarship once. If the recipient fails the exam, the recipient is not eligible to reapply for the scholarship again.

Upon approval of the scholarship recipients, the Board of Directors will issue the checks directly to the members. It is the recipient's responsibility to apply for and pay for the certification exam with this scholarship. The NCANFP is not responsible for members who do not follow through with the exam process. The recipients will be recognized in the NCANFP Newsletter, "Tarheel Tattler", and at the fall State NCANFP conference.

The NCANFP Board of Directors reserves the right to deny scholarship funding if a member can not provide proof of eligibility to sit for the exam.
