Special Awards
The Kansas Department on Aging is honoring seven nursing homes for their efforts to transition from the traditional institutional models of care to progressive home-environment models. The nursing homes that received a 2011 Promoting Excellent Alternatives in Kansas (PEAK) award are:
Lynda Burse, CDM, CFPP, and Shawna Sattler at the Kansas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Organization Spring Conference in Topeka. Their facility, Asbury Park in Newton, won the 5 Star Gracious Dining Award from KDA. |
- Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook.
- Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor, Arkansas City.
- Medicalodges Gardner, Gardner.
- Pleasant View Home, Inman.
- Asbury Park, Newton.
- Newton Presbyterian Manor, Newton.
- Schowalter Villa, Hesston.
The following facilities won the PEAK Award in 2010:
- Bethesda Home, Goessel;
- Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade;
- Kansas Masonic Home, Wichita;
- Brewster Health Center, Topeka (2008, 2007)
- Evergreen Community of Johnson County, Olathe
- Parkside Homes, Hillsboro.
Other honors:
- Mary Daniels, CDM CFPP of Moran Manor has been awarded the My InnerView's 2007 Excellence in Action award.
- Jolene Snyder,CDM, CFPP of Iman was awarded the 2008 5-Star Gracious Dining Award
- Mary Hipsher, CDM, CFPP of Brewster, received the 2008 PEAK Award
- Lynn Wineinger, CDM CFPP of Greeley County Health Services received 2008 Peak award.
- Tammy Nash, CDM CFPP of Brookside Manor received 2008 Peak Award
- Lola Porter, CDM CFPP of Minneapolis Good Samaitian received 2008 Peak Award.
- Peggy Neel, CDM, CFPP of Meade, Her Facility receive the Western Prairie Smiles-Dental award. Program called "The Leading Edge Care Services"
- Tina Browning, CDM, CFPP of Pittsburg Cornerstone Village received the Peak award 2009
